Jumping On A Reactive Trend To Deliver Links
The Project
For this project, we worked with Ripe Insurance to deliver effective expert comment for topical and trending news topics. In particular, for the Motorhomes product we wanted to focus on topical and trending content on the roads and noted that LED headlights had been a hot topic of conversation in recent weeks – as a result, we shared expert-led commentary around rules and regulations regarding these headlights.
Our Approach
As part of our twice-weekly reactive newsroom, we identified a number of topical and trending topics relating to road traffic and in particular motorhomes – but the one that stood out as heavily trending was the discussions around LED headlights and people looking for clarification around what the rules and regulations for these were.
We combined the fact that it was topical – ministers were being urged to address concerns over LED headlights – with relevant data (National collision data reveals that blinding headlights were cited as a contributing component in 216 accidents in 2023, showing an increase from 211 incidents the previous year) and the fact that many people were unaware of the impact of LED headlights, to create a piece with a high human interest angle, in addition to tying it in with the cost of living topic around fines that you could get for incorrect use.
Our Coverage
