Helping A HR & Accountancy Platform To Improve SEO Visibility

The Project

New Millennia approached us looking to improve their overall SEO performance after a period where little traction had been gained. They were looking to launch a number of new products in addition to improving their visibility across potential clients and were therefore looking for an SEO campaign which could help to grow their overall visibility.

Our Approach

Our approach for NM focused on both on-site and off-site SEO, designed to improve the quality and relevancy of on-site content while also giving the link profile a boost at the same time to help improve the overall trust of the website in what is a very highly regulated (YMYL) space.

Initially, we undertook an Opportunity Analysis deep-dive to review existing performance and identify where our focus should be – the result of this was that the brand had very little visibility across the board so we had a clean slate to start from and a lot of opportunity to gain. The main issue was that the low overall authority of the website meant that even with optimised content the website would struggle to rank against higher authority competitors, so our initial strategy needed to look at ensuring we boosted authority while improving the on-site content to ensure salience and intent match.

Over the initial 12 month period we were able to both grow the link profile of the website and improve the overall visibility and performance of targeted keywords which resulted in some good visibility gains for the brand.

Digital PR & Link Acquisition

We identified early on in the campaign that the website would benefit from a stronger overall link profile, so link acquisition played a role within our strategy. While we only had a small budget for link acquisition, we chose to focus this around topical newsjacking and thought leadership to ensure we could maximise outreach opportunities without putting hefty budget into large, high-risk data-led campaigns.

Topics that we looked at were super relevant to the core topics of accounting and HR, including information about the January tax deadline,  how to request a pay rise and how to maximise your annual leave. As a result of these efforts we were able to gain some top tier coverage including Marie Claire, Wales Online and The Mirror, boosting the overall link profile and authority of the website.
