Case Study

Hayes Garden World is one of the UK’s leading independent garden centres. With over one million visitors each year in-store over 1 million website visitors, it’s a force to be reckoned with when it comes to online sales for garden furniture & Christmas trees.

Now into our fifth year of working with Hayes we have seen the business grow from a small online retail business to a market-leading online garden furniture supplier. In the last three years we have seen turnover increase 40% each year while maintaining a solid cost per acquisition & strong organic traffic growth. Our work with Hayes includes Search Engine Optimisation, Pay-Per-Click Management & Affiliate Management, building the Pay-Per-Click Management from scratch.

The Project

Our initial work with Hayes was fairly straightforward – grow the online presence, increase the sales – after our work in Year One where we managed to release the website from a Panda penalty & start to get traffic through the website, our remit expanded to cover Pay-Per-Click advertising & finally Affiliate Marketing as additional channels of growth for the business.

The Approach

Our approach was to initially audit & set the website technically straight, within a few months of completing an initial technical audit we saw immediate improvements by removing duplicated indexed pages & content. Once we have technically optimised the website we completed a link audit & removal & started working with our PR arm to create great sharable content which initially landed us links on the likes of Mashable.

Building on this we built out content on the website to target new keyword opportunities which saw our level of traffic referring keywords increase substantially, this in turn helped to grow our Organic Traffic levels. With Organic Traffic levels at an all time high we saw the foundation was in place & turned to testing out Pay-Per-Click marketing to grow additional sales funnels.

We used a mix of Google Shopping, Text Ads & Remarketing to draw in traffic & effectively targeting, helping to grow revenue substantially through the channel at a strong Cost-Per-Acquisition.

The Results

PR has formed a solid area of our overall strategy approach & through working with our existing journalist relationships we have been able to feature Hayes across a range of newspapers, magazines & high quality online publications including:

This has helped to support the website growth as well as bring in good additional referral revenue streams for key product placements.

In addition, the results speak for themselves, since starting with Hayes we have grown the revenue over 110% & brought an additional 200,000 users per year to the website, helping to grow the brand nationally & develop a strong online presence as well as a solid long-term partnership.

Brexit Christmas tree is suitable for all political types

If last week's General Election hasn't quite cleared the political air in your household, Christmas may be a tricky time. Should you therefore fear that the most-heard "B-word" will end in "rexit" rather than "russels sprout" then a Cumbrian garden centre may have the perfect solution.

This best-selling pre-lit Christmas tree is perfect for a family home

This full, artificial tree, manufactured by the National Tree Company, is woven with 500 warm white LED lights for a truly magical Christmas glow, and it's everything you'd want for a family Christmas tree. The final decorated look is nothing short of perfect.

Can you spot the 20 Christmas songs in this baffling festive brain teaser?

There are 20 song titles hidden amongst the holiday display, which features a cosy room with a roaring fire and decorated Christmas tree. Among the classic Christmas tunes to find are All I Want For Christmas, Silent Night, Let It Snow, Baby It's Cold Outside and Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree.

17 of the best artificial Christmas trees in the UK and where to buy them

We Brits love the idea of a real Christmas tree - but not so many of us are keen on the realities of dragging a 7ft Norway Spruce through the house and leaving needles all over the place. If you count yourself among the reluctant group, then it may be time to go fake.
